People are Talking

Wow!!!!! Congratulations on all the awards over the years. You and your staff certainly deserve them. In response I have composed a poem. Hope you enjoy it.

KBON means Keep Believing in Old and New
Playing our beloved Louisiana music is what they do
With fortitude and foresight you took the bull by the horns
And proved to non-believers how they could be wrong

Skeptics said it wouldn’t last a year, much less nine
How wrong they were, you have stood the test of time
Thank you Paul Marx and the entire staff at KBON
For proving to the world that noutre musique “et bon”

KBON to me is the best thing that could of ever happened to Louisiana music. If it weren’t for Paul Marx and KBON a lot of the LA. artist would never be heard much less get a chance to play on a major radio station. The reason they are up in the charts speaks for itself. People love what KBON is about. “I’m Louisiana Proud”!!!!

Because of KBON’s playlist of mostly local artists (and your expanded coverage area)…more and more Louisiana entertainers, songwriters and music producers are ‘going back into area studios.’….writing more original songs & releasing more CD’s. Of course, for the musicians who depend on airplay for bookings; this is an added bonus that was ‘quite limited’ prior to KBON. Your position on the ‘world wide web’ introduces our Louisiana music to people in faraway states and countries. “Thanks, so much, for all the airplay you give my songs” as well as all my fellow Louisiana recording artists!!

As President of Codofil, the Council for the Development of French in La., I have seen KBON become an icon in the industry for your consistent promotion of our unique Francophone culture and heritage. While most of the country becomes homogeneous, with your programs and promotions you keep our citizens informed and aware that Acadiana is the most culturally diverse region in America. Merci beaucoup!

Man, I have so much to say. O.K. I’ll try to limit it! ha

First off – Without KBON I don’t think many people would know of our group. KBON when everyone didn’t want to chance playing local artist or just playing a song in general because of all their reasons that ONLY apply to local musicians but don’t apply to groups that are selling millions of records and is all politically ran….KBON played us without question and supported us and has made us the band we are! Without radio play a band can’t get off the ground!

KBON has not only supported us by playing the music but has defended us when people call in with rude or just remarks in general that shouldn’t be said! How many stations will have the owner contact them in regards to what they said about an artist?…non I know of!?!

KBON had done more in 9 years and accomplished more for not only us locally but worldwide than ANY radio station EVER has done for local Louisiana musicians and our culture in general! Not many people/stations take what they represent like FAMILY and take it to HEART like KBON.

It is nice to turn the radio on and hear people that talk like our local people talk and haven’t been coached to sound like all the other radio people that the other stations have that all sound alike! When you are listening to KBON you are hearing Louisiana artist and Louisiana DJ’s that are speaking in their normal voice meaning not trying to sound like a typical radio Disc Jockey or trying to speak with a Louisiana exaggerated accent which most people do and make it sound worse than it is! That is another added feature that is only heard on KBON!

I could go on and on but in making a testimonial I would close by saying we are very fortunate to not only have a station like KBON that supports us locally and worldwide but to have them actually support the bands personally on and off air and for us to have a GREAT radio station to listen to, to promote our live shows, our local businesses, our local clubs and just a station that REALLY cares and not just says they do….KBON LIVES what they preach!

KBON is truly Louisiana PROUD!

KBON makes me proud to be from Louisiana. As a person who grew up on
local radio, I find it sad to live in an age when everyone is expected
to like all the same music, nationwide. Thanks to KBON, I can hear the
music of my own region, and listen to personalities that I meet in
person all the time. KBON is a community, and thanks to the internet, I
can hear it anywhere I go, even overseas. Long live KBON.
